At Maison Rose, a portion of each and every one of our sales goes to Buddha's Smile School, a charity that is close to our hearts.
This charity teaches and nurtures hope for some of the world's poorest and most disadvantaged children. Buddha's Smile School delivers primary education with love, care and motivation. They are dedicated to helping kids learn and dream.
We believe that every child deserves to have a dream, education and the ability to accomplish their goals, which is why we are supporting this charity. Every child deserves to be in a positive, healthy environment, full of love and kindness.
We are truly grateful that Buddha's Smile School offers that. With every candle you purchase, you are helping these amazing children accomplish their dreams. We thank you for the support.
We believe that primary education is the first step in breaking the endemic cycle of poverty and caste-based discrimination. At Buddha’s Smile School (BSS), ‘untouchable’ children are not just educated – they are taught to dream. Here, in a structured and caring learning environment, children not only learn, but discover that they are not condemned to walk in their parent’s footsteps, that the shackles can be broken.
Buddha’s Smile School (BSS) serves children from local slums and villages in north India, delivering primary education with love, care, and motivation since 2003.
We understand that education goes beyond classroom learning, requiring play and discovery. We teach music, crafts, and drawing and offer short summer courses in dance for the students to discover and develop their talents. Unlike typical schools in India, we foster an atmosphere of love, kindness, and healing.
In April 2009, director and founder of BSS Rajan Kaur Saini received the Unsung Heroes of Compassion Award from Wisdom in Action. His Holiness Dalai Lama handed out the award to her in San Francisco. Receiving this award felt as a big blessing and a great honour to Rajan and it encouraged her to continue her good work and to face many difficulties.
Rajan said, “I never thought in my dreams that my work would be recognized and to receive this compassion award. As a teacher I always do my work with love and a pure heart. Receiving this blessing of His Holiness made me feel more confident, energetic and encouraged me to do more for so many children in need.”
“We have 221 students in elementary school. We feel thankful and happy we can give them love and care, and a good education.”
